what a week...
Hey yall! We had a week full of ups and downs. God is always out here looking out for us, sending us good times.
Last Monday we had the 1st counselor in the mission presidency come and sit on our district council and he took some time in the beginning to talk to us about straight up oral hygiene. He's a semi-retired dentist and brought us all toothbrushes, floss, and tongue scrapers. I had never used a tongue scraper before and I doubt that I'll ever go back.
On Wednesday I had an exchange with one of my Zone Leaders and he changed my perspective on how I treat my companion and how I should go about doing work. We got to find a few people that day and extend 4 baptismal dates to our friends. I pray that they all stick to their commitments.
This week we also got to stop by some members who had been going through some tough times the past few months with the Sister having to go through open heart surgery. The husband read to her the Percy Jackson series and they got through the whole series which might give you an idea of how long they were in the hospital. Still through it all they kept their faith and saw all the miracles that he sent their way.
That same day we were able to visit our friend whose roommate had passed away last week. He has a busy schedule and was telling us he still hasn't really confronted what happened and he doesn't know how to feel about it. We read some scriptures to him and helped carry some plywood upstairs because he couldn't do it by himself (he's renovating the house he lives in).
On Friday we had a lesson with one of our friends where we had to let him know that he can't get baptized in the foreseeable future because he's from an islamic country and they DO NOT like Christians. It was pretty sad because he has such a great desire to be baptized and have a new life.
That same day we tracted into this guy who joked he was making cocaine in his kitchen. He was pretty cool and told us he really respected us and admired what we were doing even though he's not a believer he loved to see the dedication. We talked to him about life for a while and he told us about his gold and silver business. From his house, car, and attitude he seemed to be doing pretty well. We tried to bring the gospel into the gospel several times but we could see we weren't getting anywhere. Cool guy though!
We then did calls with our new member who has kinda falling away but she still loves to meet with missionaries.
Sunday was a pretty sad day honestly. We had about 5 friends confirm to come to church and 3 to coming to the baptism afterwards and they all ended up not showing or cancelling. We did have an awesome zoom that night though and we found out we are the #1 mission in contacting online referrals which is pretty cool.
Anyways having a testimony of this Gospel is super super cool. Even though sometimes it is hard this truly is the greatest work and of which we can be a part of.
