This morning our power went out so that was pretty cool. Our district activity today was going to a pizza buffet and we were sponsored by a member so shout out Hermano Iglesia!  This week was full of just random quests like one day we had to drive a couple zones over so my comp can get interviewed by a doctor. That was a good day because we got Canes on the way back. We also had to drive out of zone to pick up new vehicle registration. We also had exchanges on saturday and i was out of my area doing Spanish work and biking and it was raining and it was awesome! Had to bike back in the dark though because we forgot our bike light but esta bien. On sunday we had our friend Eli and Sandra come to church! they both got rides with members. sadly Sandra had to leave early but we did get to have a lesson with Eli at the end of Elders Quorum. excited for transfers this week! Church is true

Lots of cool things

Hey everyone! A lot happened this week. Wednesday we had interview and on Thursday we had our temple trip. We got to go to the LA temple and it truly is beautiful outside and inside!  Friday morning we drove some elders to a doctors appointment since they're on bikes. We got to watch a foot doctor chop up a part of this elders toe and fix his toe nail (sorry if that's too graphic).  On Saturday we just did a ton of door knocking and found some cool people. This guy name Chris who is a retired plumber seemed pretty cool and I hope he progresses.  Sunday was Easter and it was pretty awesome. We had a meal with some members and they had a parakeet as a pet and it reminded me of Trevor's bird (shoutout Trevor serving on the rez). Then we reached out to a bunch of our Grey records.  Today we hiked a trail to The Cross and it has a big white cross at the top of this mountain.  This week was awesome but was rough as some points. I'm thankful for the temple trip and als...

what a week...

Hey yall! We had a week full of ups and downs. God is always out here looking out for us, sending us good times.  Last Monday we had the 1st counselor in the mission presidency come and sit on our district council and he took some time in the beginning to talk to us about straight up oral hygiene. He's a semi-retired dentist and brought us all toothbrushes, floss, and tongue scrapers. I had never used a tongue scraper before and I doubt that I'll ever go back. On Wednesday I had an exchange with one of my Zone Leaders and he changed my perspective on how I treat my companion and how I should go about doing work. We got to find a few people that day and extend 4 baptismal dates to our friends. I pray that they all stick to their commitments. This week we also got to stop by some members who had been going through some tough times the past few months with the Sister having to go through open heart surgery. The husband read to her the Percy Jackson series and they got through the ...

2nd General Conference

Hey everyone! Pretty good week! My comp has trouble getting ready in time so we are late to some things but its alright because it helps me practice my patience.  So some crazy stuff happened this week! We received a couple REALLY awesome referrals! and also one of our friends found one of his roommates dead and we went and visited him that day and he was pretty shaken up by it!  We also went to watch conference at our friend Steve's house and while we're watching he gets up to go get his pipe so he can smoke. We said something about and he came back to watch conference and then about half way through conference he pretty much asked us to leave which was pretty sad but we still love Steve. We also watched Conference with our friend Mike and he ended up falling asleep. Another thing that happened was we met some people from the Philippines! (SHOUT OUT my friends serving in the Philippines) and they taught us some words that i have now since forgot but they were super ...

8 months and stuff

Hey everyone! Lifes been exciting! New transfer and new companion and whatnot! Last week at district council i asked my zone leader "why am i not baptizing" and he said something like "it's because your not asking". This week i really thought about it and realized i had been looking for perfect opportunities to invite people to be baptized. This week we invited our friends to be baptized in almost every lesson and now 3 of our friends have baptismal dates and a few more who are thinking of making that commitment. yesterday we had stake conference and we had Israel Marin come and speak to us. He was super awesome and in fact had the choir director do a impromptu solo and had the congregation join in the 3rd verse and also had the Branch President get up and speak about a miracle that had recently happened to him. Our two friends that came loved it but thought 2 hours was SUPER long which it kinda was. SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: This week I prayed a lot. I think about the...

This week we had transfers and I'm in the same area with a new companion. Had to say goodbye to my last companion, I'll miss him because we had a lot of fun last transfer. This week we had a pretty cool miracle we had two people come to church randomly and we taught them an awesome Restoration lesson during second hour. We got a return appointment for tuesday that we sadly have to move back because we have zone conference. We also have been stopping by less active members which sometimes is good and sometimes bad but our mission is really pushing reactivation as well as getting member referrals. SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: "We don’t want God to remember our sins, so there is something fundamentally wrong in our relentlessly trying to remember those of others." -President Holland This quote hit me pretty hard when I was listening. It helped understand things I shouldn't hold against someone.

Luck of the Irish

So I'm talking with my mom right now and just found I got some Irish so that's pretty cool! Some pretty interesting things happened this week. Probably the most interesting was being bashed by a muslim. He was nice but had an issue with Jesus being the "Son" of God and wanted a scripture that says He is and all we did was look up "sonship" and testified to him, he paused and then asked if we wanted to play basketball and that hyped my companion so i dont know.... We got to see our old friend Steve who is probably my favorite person to visit right now even if his house has a weird strong smell and his cat might be dead and he's open about breaking the word of wisdom. At the beginning of the transfer we would just talk on his doorstep but the last few times he's let us in and he always has a cowboy movie on the TV. One day we brought him some cookies we made and he let us know he didn't have any teeth, he was thankful for the gesture though. He tol...
