This week was crazy and I don't have a lot of time and I forgot my journal so I basically don't know what happened this week but I got to go to the temple on Thursday and the LA temple is absolutely beautiful! Sunday was really cool cause we had a someone come to church and her name was Karen. She goes to another church and came with her nephew who is a member and works in the temple regularly. She said she loved the service and I pray and hope she get baptized and im excited that we'll probably get to teach her! I got to meet a lot of Hispanic people this week and they're all so nice! I almost hope I get switched Spanish speaking because sometimes white people don't like talking about Jesus.  Hope everyone has a great week this week! Read your Book of Mormon or Bible or conference talks and pray a lot cause those are cool! If you need a place to start Ether 12:12 is one I share a lot!

It was pretty cool week this week. I had zone conference which us absolutely a blast but it was a couple hour drive down to the meeting house so that was fun. Went on an exchange with Elder Hiener, district leader. Got to meet a guy named D'Angelo and he's... interesting... he's a nice guy but has a lot of problems about the church but he's more just likes to discuss them, he seems really open minded and he does a TON of research of stuff that I don't really know about but still a nice guy. On thursday we put a couple people on date to be baptized! Looking forward to that! It's been super hot here lately and im pray that it cools down. There's a lot of spiders by the apartment so that's cool. I'm kinda writing this last minute cause I totally forgot but GOD LOVES YOU AND HAVE A GREAT WEEK! Here's some pictures!

What's up guys! Elder Shumway back with another update on my life as a missionary  . This week was pretty cool cause it got a bit colder but I think it's going back to hot next week so ig I can escape the heat even if I tried . This week was such a blessing. On Tuesday Brother King bought us burgers and fries for lunch and then for dinner Brother Peterson took us to a steakhouse and bought us REALLY expensive prime rib . He then took us to cold stone and told us to get the biggest size. He's a sweet old man who's wife passed away years ago and he's just retired and lives alone. He told us he doesn't get to go out a lot because of some back injuries and that he enjoys the missionaries so much.  We also met a homeless guy named Frank. He just walked right up to us and complemented us on always working hard and talking to people. He explained that we had a light about us and he could feel it from the bench he was sitting up that was about 50 yards away. We gave him...

Labor Day - pday

Happy Labor Day. Dad and I have the day off so when you call we will be home.  The coons want to come swim at 11. Lila and Braden have to work. Carson is going to come over in the morning And fix the diving board. That is so nice of him.  Today church was good. Andrew is so lonesome without you he wanted to go to nursery with his mom. He leaves in one week. I think he is super excited. Tomorrow is his last day of work. Doug and Christy invited dad and I over to play game tomorrow.  Dad and  I also want to start to clean up your car. We just need to vacuum not and have the carpet cleaner to clean seats. Lila and dad are sitting on the couch with me. Lila is cross stitching. And dad is watching tv. Grandpa and grandma came to  dinner tonight. It’s was nice to have them. After they left we played skull king. It looks like someone updated your mission face book page often. I am always looking to see if you are in them. Carson has asked about you calling and said he ...

So I got pranked this week... there's a Hispanic companion in my district named Elder Rodriguez that only speaks Spanish.... SIKE HE SPEAKS PERFECT ENGLISH! My district convinced me he didn't speK English for an entire week. It was actually a pretty funny harmless prank. It's probably not as funny as I think it is cause we just kept laughing about it. On Tuesday we started biking and it is very tiring! Biking for miles and miles is not always fun.  One thing about being a missionary is you gotta talk to EVERYONE. So we get to know a lot of cool/interesting people. And I met some super cute dogs this week. Nice dogs are literally the best   .  I hope and pray we get some people on date to be baptized soon were preparing to get like 6 people on date which is lit. On thursday I went on exchanges and was with "zebra" elders, which means they teach Spanish and English. However, almost ALL the appointments were Spanish and NO HABLA ESPAÑOL. So that was fun to just sit...

Yo what's up! This week's been great. Woke up at 3 am to get on a plane and get to Cali by 11. I slept most of the bus/train/tram/plane ride (yes I did take all those). We then met our mission president and his wife, President Rodriguez and Sister Rodriguez. They are so nice! President gave us all hugs and always had a smile. If you can tell by the name he's a short Mexican man with the kindest heart and a really thick accent. I was one of 17 new missionaries to the mission.  When we got to the mission home we ate lunch. We had to wait for 6 Spanish elders from the Mexico mtc to come so they had us walk laps around the church building and talk to all the trainers. Me and Elder Larsen started talking to and Elder Marsigli and an Elder Butler. We finally all sat down to have a little meeting and then we FINALLY got our trainers announced. Elder Larsens name go called and he ended up being in a trio with Elder Marsigli who we were talking to (adios to the best mtc comp). And t...
