The Phantom of the Opera
Good morning to the people who read my email! Some cool things happened this week...
- Me and Elder Knight did a tie trade for a tie he's been asking me for a couple weeks now. I think he's worn it everyday this week.
- Elder Knight also got me listening to a lot of Bruce R McConkie. My favorite so far is What Think Ye of the Book of Mormon? The story is very relatable.
-Got to teach a 9 year old who has a baptismal date. So fun to teach simply.
- We invited our friend Summer be baptized and now she has a date for September 6th.
-Talked to some teenagers at the park about Clash Royale and Brawl Stars (games on their phone). Then talked to them about church. One of them kept talking about how corrupted their Pastor is and how he takes all the money for himself and has like 6 cars and a big house. We told him our church is not like that and invited him like 7 times. We'll get him one day.
-helped this guy push his broken down car out of the street and this other guy got out of his car and turns out it was our friend Joe who we lost contact with like 8 weeks ago.
- All the Bishopric was gone today so the Elders Quorum President conducted the church service.
Spiritual thought
At the beginning of this week we had zone conference and I got to speak to our zone about the why behind baptism. When I was studying for it I thought of the scriptures D&C 18:15-16 and Mosiah 18:11. Both of them are about Joy and how the people who RECEIVE the ordinance and the ones who seek to ADMINISTER the ordinance find Joy. Something I've tried to look for on my mission.
I don't know if everyone else's mission is like this but when we write our mission President on preparation day, sometimes he writes back. Very few people will get a response. And a couple weeks ago President Rodriguez responded to my email for the first time in a year of me being on the mission. It was a short email, very formal. The largest part was the quote from President Nelson that says something like, joy has nothing to with the circumstances but with our focus.
In essence I think President was congratulating me on searching out for that joy.
