He got baptized in the ocean by the bible
Good afternoon to everyone who reads my emails!!
Some cool stuff happened this week.
-We had Zone Conference and President Rodriquez showed us this video about the calculations of how big the universe is and how there like 4X as many suns than all the grains of sand on the earth. He then explained how everyone of those are numbered and how God can comprehend all of us and knows us by name.
-We also played basketball with this dude named Ryan who was going to the singles ward but got really busy. He's been going through a tough time recently so we got to teach about the Atonement and how it could help him.
-We had this whole situation with our friend Jay. He had a baptismal date and was YSA age so we were planning on passing him off to the Sister missionaries. We had a great pass off lesson and told him that he was also gonna meet with the Sister missionaries and take lessons with them. We explained that it wasn't going to change anything that we would still call and text him and see him at church.... well now he's ghosting us. Kinda sad cause we were actually really good friends with Jay. He said he felt betrayed. Hope we get to see him again.
-On friday we had a really cool lesson with a returning member Sister Hudson.
-We also finally got in contact with one of our New Members named Samantha. She hadn't come to church in 6 months and missionaries have had barely any contact with her. Finally we decided we'll make the family a small gift (she has 2 little kids). The last contacts with missionaries didn't look so great but this time she finally opened the door and her kids came out to play. We ended up getting everyone to laugh and invite Samantha to church. She says she really interested in coming now but couldn't this Sunday.
-Saturday we had walk day, so we walked as much as we could. Found some really cool miracles. talked to 3 college bros who were on the street. There was a natural split where i started talking to 2 of them and Elder Murset started talking to the other. We only talked to them for a couple minutes and the 2 I was talking were kinda just making fun of the whole situation but they were chill. Elder Murset was talking to the other guy. When we all came back together Elder Murset asked for the guys number but he made an excuse. After we walked away Elder Murset told me about his conversation. They had a really awesome conversation and said "wait I'm actually really interested" but when we turned back together the guy almost made an unconscious look at his friends. Our thoughts were that once his friends joined he got self conscious and had to act cool. like bro it isnt that cool to stick with the crowd. hope my brother out there finds some missionaries down the road.
-Another miracle on walk day. We were at the church doing additional study for Elder Murset when we get a knock on the door. It was one of the Sisters and she relayed to us that they were talking to this dude on the street and they were by the church so they offered him a church tour. On the walk over to the church they realized that this dude was a bit creepy and had not done some good things that day. They asked us to come join their church tour. He ended up telling us a crazy story how he wasn't doing good things and felt like he needed to be baptized so he grabbed a bible and went in the ocean and he said something to the effect of the Bible baptized him. The guys name was Drew and he wasn't all crazy but just a little weird. He went to the YSA the next day. Looks like We'll be teaching.
-Okay i think this is the last one. We had a returning member bring her daughter to church. She seems really interested and we gave her a Book of Mormon and got her number and she said that we should meet soon.
-Actually the last one. Our Ward Mission Leader told us that a man had come to church and they didn't know if he was a member or not. After church we saw him in the halls. He was dressed in a dirty plaid shirt and jeans. We started talking to him and he mentioned he served a mission and how he was a convert. Then the next 10 minutes we talked to him might be some of the best conversation I had with a member on my mission. He asked us what it means to be "set apart". We thought about it for a moment and said that God has set us aside for a purpose and no matter what our actions are doesn't change how God views us as his servants. He said he really liked that response. He answered his own question saying something like, "being set apart is being taken away from the outside world and with it all the responsibilities like finding a car, looking for a job, searching for a spouse... but when we go back home we will still have our responsibilities we had on a mission to find, teach, and baptize". He gave the analogy of when we were set apart, we were given a set of keys (responsibilities) and when we get back no one is going to take those keys away, we'll just be given more keys. At the end of it all he told us he'll take us out to dinner on the condition that we have to bring one of our investigators. He gave us his number and assured us he had a high credit limit.
anyway... thats all i can remember from the week. I really didn't take any super cool pictures this week... have a great week.
