18 months??
Yes yes. I did hit 18 months. Crazy.
Update of life is I'm still here in Thousand Oaks with Elder Olson and don't look at my tempature if you're in the south or on the east coast! You'll be really sad.
California is so blessed. It kinda blew my mind this week how our sink disposal stopped working and our fridge stopped getting cold and all we had to do was make a phone call and it was fixed in a few days.
On Tuesday we met this really cool guy named Mark. He runs underwater stress test training for the military and one of the things he was explaining to us was how they train people who go underwater by having them "have an emotional response" (fight or flight instinct kick in and they think they're gonna die) and have them think clearly and rationally. He also had this really cool Irish accent and was jacked and told us he really wants to be a good dad. He was also holding his baby who just stared at us the entire time. Then we talked about how life is like a stress test and we have to turn to God and go through suffering to learn.
The BEST part of my week was going on exchanges with Elder Valentine on Thursday. We grinded and ended up finding 10 friends and they were all pretty cool! We also had 4 members participate in lessons and they were all in person!! We also laughed the entire time and we counted and saw at least 4 miracles, however, I forgot the ones that we counted as miracles. One of those miracles was Cody...
The next day we went back and taught Cody and at one point he told us that no one believes what he believes and he feels so alone. He starts talking about the war in heaven and the 1/3 falling away and proceeds to explain how were the 2/3 and how we chose to come to earth and couple other things. He started crying when we told him we believed in all of that. We taught most of the Plan of Salvation and he really appreciated us teaching him.
Something funny that happened last week was I commented on the guys sign on his fence. The sign said "NO TRESPASSING! IF MY DOG DOESN'T GET YOU MY .45 WILL" We caught him walking down his driveway and talked to him for a second. I told him he liked his sign and he was like "you do?" Then he put his hand on his hip (gun looking bulge) and asked "how fast can you run?" It was a funny moment but i don't know if he was joking. He then told us that we needed to join the military and it would REALLY teach us how to pray. #weareasthearmyofhelaman
