hi I am still alive
I haven't written an email in a few weeks. I'll tell a couple stories here now!
This last saturday we went to a baptism expecting a couple friends to come.... they didn't sadly. However, as we walked in I noticed a man that I recognized. He was sitting with the sister missionaries and they had invited him to come to the baptism. We pulled the sisters aside and I explained to them that I knew the guy and I had been in a lesson with him and YSA sisters a couple transfers earlier because they couldn't find another person to come to the lesson and it was late and they had weird feelings about this guy. I explained that a few days after the lesson with the sisters, the man had called us and in a VERY concerning way explained his intentions with meeting with the YSA sisters. Not good. We also pulled aside one the mission presidency, President Moffat, who thankfully was there. When we explained the situation he asked us Elders to stay and sit with him and the sisters should not be by him. The sisters ended up leaving and the guy ended up not staying to too long after the baptism. BUT BESIDES THAT THE BAPTISM WENT GREAT. They were the Vandecars and the dad was baptized as well as 2 teenaged twins. The mom was a returning member who fell in love with the Gospel again. Most prepared people ever!
funny story time
Another story is we were on exchanges with my Zone Leader, Elder Gibbons. We were out finding people and we knocked on this door and this woman holding a baby answered. While we were talking with her, another woman pulls in the drive way and gets out of the car. They both looked a similar age and I asked if they were sisters... they shared a look and smiled at each and said no... after a second I asked... "dating?"... They both started laughing and one of them said "this is my step mom". Classic California blunder. Smh.
We also were sharing a meal with a member family and they invited their friends (a family we're teaching) and the mom and the oldest son came. They both have a very limited understanding of the Gospel. In our message at the end of the meal we shared how "May the 4th be with you" is a cool holiday but so is "May the 3rd member of the Godhead be with you". We focused our whole message on the spirit and what it feels like. We explained that sometimes the spirit makes you feel so happy that you cry. The son of the family that we're teaching says suddenly... "I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God"... we all smiled at this beautiful proclamation of testimony from this young boy who has little knowledge on who Jesus is. After another second the says... "my mom is crying". The mom was indeed crying and had a big smile on her face. We look forward to teaching this family more and help to be baptized and sealed for eternity.
Also my companion is so sick so please pray for Elder Colton. Also Saints is an awesome book!
Love everyone! have an awesome week!
